Solomonar is a romanian atmospheric folk black metal solo project of Andrei Oltean „Solomonar”, vocalist and ethnic instruments player in bands such as: E-an-na, Dirty Shirt, Clouds, Daius, Prohod etc.

The concept of this project stems from the idea that each human being is actually a composite result of more personalities, of more entities glued together in synergy. For me, the number that seemed to occur again and again was „51”, so Solomonar is a project with a clear objective: that of describing each of these faces of myself in a musical manner. This journey started back in 2015, when the first song of the cycle was released: „I (of LI) Lost in the woods...”. This was quickly followed by a second song, released around the time of the unfortunate Colectiv fire in Bucharest, which eventually took the life of 65 people who had the misfortune to be there and enjoy a metal concert at that time. Naturally, this song was released as a tribute to those people. The song „III” already explores a bit more of the folk side of this project, at times going somewhere along the lines of Moonsorrow. Each song brings new avant-garde or exeperimental elements, although somewhat hindered by the material options available at the time. „VI”, for example, goes completely off the grid, as it doesn’t employ any drums or bass guitar, being more of a classically inclined piece, even though distorted guitars still gradually creep in. The experiments go one notch further with „VII - Куда”, where I use several out of tune pianos, as well as ethnic wind instruments with a non western tuning. This one was released in 2020 and marks the end of the first cycle.
